Arsenal Win in Champions League Second Leg
Bremer Extra-Time Goal Gives Arsenal the Edge
Arsenal 2-3 Wolfsburg agg 4-5
Arsenal's hopes of reaching the Champions League final were dashed on Thursday as they were defeated 5-4 on aggregate by Wolfsburg in the semi-finals.
The Gunners had won the first leg 2-1, but they were unable to repeat that feat in the second leg, going down 3-2 at the Emirates Stadium.
Lea Schuller gave Wolfsburg the lead in the first half, but Arsenal hit back in the second period through goals from Samantha Kerr and Frida Maanum.
However, Arsenal's hard work was undone in extra-time when Jill Roord netted a brace to give Wolfsburg a 3-2 lead on the night.
Arsenal had a chance to level the tie once more, but Beattie saw her penalty saved by Almuth Schult.
The defeat will come as a major disappointment to Arsenal, who were looking to reach the Champions League final for the first time since 2019.
It will also be a blow to manager Jonas Eidevall, who has overseen a significant improvement in Arsenal's fortunes since taking over in the summer.
However, Arsenal can still finish the season on a high by winning the FA Cup. They face Chelsea in the final on May 15.
