Football Season and Road Construction Could Create Traffic Delays Near NC State

Football season is here

Football season is back, and that means traffic delays near NC State. The Wolfpack's first home game is Saturday, Sept. 1, against East Carolina. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.

Allow extra time for travel

The N.C. Department of Transportation is urging drivers to allow extra time for travel on game days. The following roads are expected to be heavily congested:

  • Hillsborough Street
  • Western Boulevard
  • Avent Ferry Road

In addition to football traffic, road construction could also slow down traffic near campus. The following projects are currently underway:

  • Hillsborough Street between Pullen Road and Dixie Trail is being repaved.
  • Western Boulevard between Hillsborough Street and Centennial Campus Drive is being widened.
  • Tips for avoiding traffic delays

If you're planning to attend a Wolfpack football game this season, here are a few tips for avoiding traffic delays:

    • Allow extra time for travel.
    • Take public transportation or ride sharing.
    • Park off-campus and walk or take a shuttle to the stadium.
    • Avoid driving during peak traffic times.
